DRIFTER GUYS: Stefan Carlberg

Our Canadian cowboy Stefan is a travel co-ordinator and cycle guide - spending his time co-ordinating global adventures and hopping from country to city through the seasons. In May, we spent a day with him in Palma shooting our new collection and chasing light through the streets and cobbled alleys.

Now back in his home country, Stefan reflects on his time in Mallorca and some of his other favourite spots around the world.

MALLORCA

Mallorca is, without a doubt, my favourite place in the world. Having done quite a bit of travelling over the past 10 years, I seem to consistently return to Mallorca because there are always new avenues to explore, roads to cycle, markets to graze, festivals to fiesta.

As an outdoor enthusiast, what attracts me most here is the cycling. The cycling is unparalleled to anything I’ve experienced around the world. There’s nothing quite like the feeling of riding alongside a cliff with the mediterranean to my right, the Traumanta to my left and the Spanish sunshine. My top three rides that I’d recommend for intermediate to advanced cyclists are the Coast Road from Esporles to Andratx - visiting cute Spanish towns alongside the sea; Sa Calobra - a wicked 20 km ride with a 9.5 km, 670 m climb with 26 switch backs; and Cap de Formentor - a ride where everywhere you look, you’re surrounded by the sea with a beautiful lighthouse destination.

MELBOURNE
As a traveller, I loved my time living in Melbourne, Australia. The coolest city where everything seems to make sense, from the best coffee at the hippest cafes, to top-tier restaurants, quick access to the beach, and a hidden outdoor gem only a couple hours away: Wilsons Promontory National Park.

PERU

On the other side of the world, Cusco, Peru offers the most amazing cultural experience merging ancient Incan history and their connection with the mountains: amazing ruins, great food, and incredible hiking.

CANADA

Lastly, I’m biased but the Canadian Rocky Mountains host the most unique mountains and lakes in the world, each with their own distinct personalities. There are endless trails, camping opportunities and wildlife encounters. Say hi if you come visit in the summer!
